The Pryor Character Counts honor goes to junior girls’ basketball player Brooke Miller. Pryor is coming off a season that saw them make it all the way to the state semifinals and Miller played a small role on that team.
Entering her junior season Miller knows that more will be expected this year and has been working in the offseason to improve.
“I’ve worked on my shooting a lot and on getting faster as well,” said Miller, “I want to be a leader on the court and in the locker room, so just to lead by example for my teammates.”
Miller says that as a leader she plans on using good communication and do what’s right when the coaches aren’t looking. She also says teamwork is going to be a big key for Pryor this season.
“I think for us the goal is to work better together as a team and to make it back to the state tournament we’ll have to do that,” said Miller.
One thing that’s clear is that character is something that means a lot to Brooke.
“Character is what describes you,” said Miller, “and I would like to think that I’m kind and encouraging to others.”
Besides basketball Miller also plays softball, she on last seasons State runner-up team. She also throws discus on the track team and placed sixth at State during her sophomore season.
On top of everything else Miller is also a standout in the classroom with a 3.7 GPA. She is involved in student council, National Honor Society and Choir.
