Locust Grove’s Gavin Clift – Character Counts Presented by Hookers Sports Grill

The Locust Grove Character Counts honor goes to Gavin Clift, a senior basketball player. Clift is a guard for Locust Grove and was a contributor on last seasons team averaging just under five points per game and shooting 39 percent from the field. As a senior he’s prepared for a bigger role this season.

“My role will be to provide leadership as well as play making on the offensive end and a strong defensive presence,” said Clift.

He also knows how he plans on leading this season.

“I think communication and leading by example are my biggest strengths,” said Clift, “I lead by facilitating open communication and try to bring out the best in all of my teammates. I also have to lead by taking action and just help our team stay organized and make sure we’re all on the same page.”

In talking to Clift it’s also clear how important character is to him.

“Having character means everything, character is what defines you as a player. If you don’t have the right character, it’s going to be hard to play. You have to be on your best behavior on and off the court and always be willing to help the person next to you,” said Clift.

After high school Clift plans on attending Oklahoma State to study IT. His goal is to become a high voltage lineman.
