Verdigris’ Jayson Gibson – Softball Spotlight Presented by Roberts Auto Center

Success is something that is not just acquired, but it is earned with time, effort, and hard work. But Verdigris senior Jayson Gibson says that it also requires sacrifice.

“It takes long hours of practice and time away from family,” she said. “I have missed multiple graduations, birthday parties, and family gatherings just so I can I play the sport I love. It has taken a lot of dedication and hard work to get where I am today.”

Gibson’s biggest influence in her life has been her pitching coach, Terri Mclure.

“I’ve known her since I started playing,” she said. “She’s the strongest person I know, which shows me that I can overcome anything! She’s a huge inspiration to me. When I needed a push or just need a pick me up, she would call me and show me her support and how much she cares about me.”

Faith is important to Jayson and her family, she even carries it onto the field when she plays.

“My faith in God plays a big part of my life,” she said. “My family is very faith based and we always give thanks to him good or bad. I always say G2G – Glory to God, it’s a good way to show my love and appreciation to him while I play or doing anything throughout my day.”
