Fastpitch softball player Mikalle Pair is in her senior season as a pitcher and shortstop for the Lady Ridgerunners. Pair has enjoyed an outstanding career at Grove High School, but her playing career started long before high school.
“I’ve been playing softball since I was four years old,” said Pair. “Softball bring me so much joy! It’s so much fun playing with a group of girls that are your closets friends!” Pair said of her teammates, “my team is amazing we all push each other to do the best all the time!”
Also a member of the Lady Red varsity basketball team, Pair is a big part of the both teams having success on the court and the softball diamond. But like other athletes, Pair is focused on making good grades as she looks towards life after high school.
“Academics are super important to me. I am continuing my softball career at Independence Community College and to pursue my education degree,” said Pair. “Grove High School has always pushed you to do your very best in anything you do. The coaches are great even though we may not get along all the time they just want what is best for you. Grove High School is an amazing school with great administrators and faculty.”
Pair said her mother has been a big influence in her life, in and out of athletics.
“My mother Kelli has been my biggest influence in my life. She never gives up. She has three kids and not to long ago she graduated college and now is occupational therapist assistant,” said Pair. “Seeing her struggle over the years she was in college trying to take care of three kids and she never once gave up she just kept pushing and she did so seeing her be able to do all that, tells me that I can do anything that I put my mind too.”
Outside of school, Pair enjoys hanging out with my friends, going to the football games, and most importantly she loves spending time with my family.
