Sophomore Katelyn Alexander Leading Cross Country Team – Presented by Rogers State University
- Updated: September 26, 2019
The Rogers State Women’s Cross Country team will look to sophomore Katelyn Alexander to lead the way in 2019. As a freshman, Alexander made a big first impression for the women’s cross country program, becoming a leader for the Hillcats right from the start of her time on College Hill.
Alexander, who grew up in the shadows of RSU in Claremore, led the Hillcats in the season opening race and her collegiate debut, running first for the navy and red and 11th overall. Her debut caught the eyes of the conference as she was named the Heartland Conference Runner of the Week.
Alexander would continue to lead the Hillcats as she finished as the team’s top runner on four more occasions, including another 11th place finish overall at the Heartland Conference Championships where she was subsequently named the Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year and earned a place on the All-Heartland First Team.
Away from the race course, Alexander is still a leader for the Hillcats, both academically and in the community. She was named to the Heartland Conference President’s Honor Roll both semesters while also competing on the track & field team. Alexander also serves the local community through her church, as she is heavily involved with the children’s ministry at First Baptist Church in Claremore.
