OFFENSE

The Salina Wildcats will be aggressive on both sides of the ball. Offensively they will be balanced and work out of a variety of spread formations. Keep an eye on running back Justin Budds (5-11, 205, Sr.) to carry the load on the ground. Last season he had 86 carries for 363 yards and four receptions for 25 yards. Chance Condit (6-3, 220, Jr.) will be a key offensive player at tight end, looking to top his eight receptions for 126 yards and two touchdowns from last year. Corbin McCarty (5-6, 155, Sr.) will be an asset at running back, as will JT Kelley (5-11, 165, So.) at wide receiver. Wyatt Murphy (6-1, 210, So.) and Trevin Gilley (6-0, 185, Sr.) will be strongholds in the offensive line.

DEFENSE

On defense, the Wildcats look to bring a variety of pressures out of the 3-4 base formation. Five starters return from last season, including a few who will see action on both sides of the ball like Chance Condit at defensive end, Justin Budds at linebacker, Wyatt Murphy at linebacker and Corbin McCarty at defensive back. Altogether this group accounted for 127 tackles, five interceptions, four sacks and two fumble recoveries last season. Braden Panther (5-11, 260, Sr.) and Kye Montgomery (6-0, 200, Sr.) anchor the defensive line. New head coach Justin Brown is eager to get the season started. “I am very excited about the opportunity to coach at Salina,” Brown said. “I know that we have good kids who will work hard to achieve our goals this season.”
