OFFENSE
Fans of the Afton Eagles can expect to see aggressive play on the field coming from both sides of the ball as this team is focused on being disciplined, physical and tough. The multiple-formation offense has eight returning starters, including a core group of seniors to lead the way. Wide receiver Cole Mikesell (6-2, 215, Sr.) is a big playmaker who had 22 receptions for 401 yards last year, as well as 154 passing yards, 79 rushes for 361 rushing yards and a total of nine touchdowns. Quarterback Brett Fuser (5-8, 185, Sr.) looks to connect with Mikesell on the field. Fuser had 945 yards passing and 84 yards receiving last year for a total of nine touchdowns. Jesse Saylor (5-9, 175, Sr.) offers another solid option at wide receiver. Teegan Muapin (5-7, 210, Sr.) anchors the offensive line.
DEFENSE
Cole Mikesell returns to the defensive side of the ball as the leading tackler, racking up 91 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions last year. Not far behind is middle linebacker Braeden Gaines (5-9, 225, Sr.), who had 81 tackles last season. Look for Brandon Coombes (6-0, 210, Jr.) to be a big asset to this defense at end. Brett Fuser also will see action on defense as he returns at safety, looking to top his 41 tackles and four interceptions from last fall. This group could find success this season if they put in the work.
