Stilwell’s Cameron Hasson – Oklahoma Army National Guard Spotlight

Stilwell High School student-athlete Cameron Hasson played varsity baseball for the Indians and recently made the decision to join the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

Hasson, a right fielder and pitcher, is following in the footsteps of his grandparents and their service to this country.

“Both of my grandfathers were in the military,” Hasson said. “My grandmother on the father’s side of the family was in the military as well.”

His decision to join the Oklahoma Army National Guard was an easy one for Hasson thanks to the benefits he will receive as he pursues a degree in college.

“I decided to join to help pay for my college, ensure that I had another opportunity to do what I wanted and a steady income to get me by if things do go wrong,” said Hasson.

The baseball player said sports has taught him that teamwork is everything, something he can take with him into the military.

Hasson will leave for basic training in September and after attending an additional school, he will return to Oklahoma and serve in the OKARNG as a Blackhawk mechanic.

This season the Indians posted a 32-7 record making it to the OSSAA Regional tournament. Before he leaves for basic training, Hasson is spending time with friends and family. He enjoys working out, fishing and working on trucks.
