Quapaw’s Jenni Jennings – Character Counts Presented by Integris Miami

Jenni Jennings is a varsity softball player for Quapaw High School where she also plays basketball and is a member of the band.

“Other than softball, I also play basketball and am a member of the band (alto saxophone), FCS, National Honor Society, Student Council, and the S.A.F.E team,” said Jennings.

Jennings enjoys being involved in many activities at school, while staying on top of her grades.

“Academics are very important. I do my best in the classroom and try to make the best grades that I can,” said Jennings. “To be able to represent Quapaw is an honor. Being a member of the Quapaw softball team is a huge privilege. I always want to make Quapaw proud by the example that my team and I set for the younger kids that look up to us.”

This season was a good one for Jennings and her Quapaw teammates.

“This season was our best season, not just because of our success, but because of how hard we were pushed to do our best. We made it to the regional tournament and won our first game. We lost to the team that ended up being state runner-ups,” said Jennings. “I love how supportive my teammates are. They always have my back. Even off the field, they’re really fun people to be around.”

The community of Quapaw also supports the local sports teams and the softball team was no exception this year. Same goes for the school and the staff.

“I love all the support and encouragement I receive from the other students and staff. They don’t just care about your academics or success, they truly care about who you are as a person,” said Jennings.

A 12-year veteran of the game, Jennings started her softball journey at the age of five in kindergarten. Now, as she prepares to graduate in a year, Jennings is planning to pursue opportunities at the next level of competition.

“After I graduate, I plan to play college softball and continue in my academics to become a physical therapist,” said Jennings.

In her free time you can usually find her going to church and staying active in her youth group at Quapaw First Baptist. She also enjoys making music and spending time with friends and family.
