Dewey’s Colby Henley: NEOK Boys Track Poll Winner – Presented by Roberts Auto Center

Dewey junior Colby Henley has competed in track since the eighth grade, running in the 100, 400, and the mile relay. He also plays football and basketball for the Dewey Bulldoggers. No matter what sport he competes in, he strives to make his hometown community proud.

“I like playing for Dewey because I have been here my whole life. I want to make the community proud and I am a Bulldogger by heart,” he said.

His coaches motivate him to give his all on the track. Henley said that Coach Close telling him to “pick it up” while he is running is a motivating factor indeed.

While his coaches motivates him on the track, Henley’s parents are his role models in all aspects of his life.

“I would say my parents [are role models.] They have always been there for me and push me to be the best I can be,” he said.

While Henley admitted that the state championship wasn’t on his mind much at the beginning of the season, his hard work started to pay off and others took notice.

“This season went well. I didn’t think much about state at the beginning of the year, until I found out in the middle of the season that I was ranked top 3 in the 400,” he said.

After high school Henley hopes to continue his athletic career in college, playing either football or basketball.
