A sixteen year old at Chouteau High School, Lori Beth Miller has already proven herself to be a talented athlete as both a member of the track and basketball team for the past year.

She began playing basketball six years ago and started track last year. She decided to start track as she has always enjoyed running and figured she might be pretty good at competing. After the past year she is able to say that she loves the competition and pushing herself to be the best she can be.

She credits her family and community for encouraging her and being a support network for Miller.

“I love that we [in the Chouteau community] are a small town and everyone knows everyone and they’re very supportive,” Miller said. “My parents and my brother push me and always support me in everything that I do.”

When asked about her favorite track memory she said it was qualifying for all three of her events at the state track meet this season.

Aside from track and basketball, Miller is a member of the National Honor Society and Do Something Club, where students go on field trips and contribute to the Special Olympics. She is ranked first in her class and carries a 4.0 GPA.

After graduating from high school, Miller hopes to attend Tulsa Community College to pursue a degree as a sonographer.
